Sun Safety Tips

The Plainville-Southington Health District would like to remind residents that overexposure to the sun can lead to skin cancer, glaucoma, wrinkles and heat related injuries.

The American Cancer Society states that “Simply staying in the shade is one of the best ways to limit your UV exposure.” They have adopted a Sun Safety program that stresses “Slip! Slop! Slap! and Wrap” to protect yourself from UV rays:

  • Slip on a shirt.
  • Slop on sunscreen.
  • Slap on a hat.
  • Wrap on sunglasses to protect the eyes and sensitive skin around them.

Look for more information in the near future from the Health District on this topic.
