The Health District’s Environmental Health Section has three goals: to prevent illness, disability and death of residents in the Health District related to the environment that can impact health.
The District’s sanitarians perform health inspections, investigate and resolve complaints about health hazards, and educate the public about the links to health and environment to promote health and decrease impact.
The District is the local entity, in partnership with state and federal agencies that enforces the State Public Health Code, relevant State Statutes and Regulations and Local Health Ordinances. The District also receives and disseminates pertinent information from federal agencies that educate and inform its residents. The PSHD responds to public health emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
